Faq – PV COATING

The coating has been tested by third party engineers, and it was found that it is safe to use on solar panels. Not only that, they also observed that the coating could potentially help to reduce or slow down the panel’s rate of degradation. See the reports here.

(5) How much increase should i expect from my panels ?

The increase that your panels will experience really depends on how dirty they are before they are coated. If your panels were losing 35% before the coating, then, you stand to gain a lot. If your panels were losing 17% before the coating, then, you stand to gain very much. If your panels were losing 5% before the coating, then, you still stand to gain much. Individual results will vary.

  And if your panels are brand new, then, by coating them, you protect them from wear and tear, stains, rust,  fading, staining, scratching, corrosion, lichen, moss, algae, amongst other benefits. For these reasons, we always ask that you coat your panels at the same time when you install the panels so that, you can start enjoying the benefits from day one.

(6) Can you apply the coating on new solar panels ?

YES.

(7) Can you apply the coating on old solar panels ?

YES.

(8) Does the coating help with the snow ?

YES.

A test by Mich Tech University showed that panels coated with our coating, helped the snow to slide off more quickly, generating up to 5% more electricity, than panels that were not coated. See report here.

(9) Can regular cleaning remove the coating ?

NO.

The coating has a value of 7, on the mohs scale of hardness, therefore, normal cleaning can not remove the coating. This is also the reason why the coating is anti-scratching.

(10) Can I buy the product and apply it myself ?

You need to be trained and fully equipped, to apply it.

(11) Does the coating help against organic POLLUTANTS e.g. algae, mildew, lichen etc ?

YES.

Our coating will either reduce or eliminate the growth of organic pollutants on your solar panels.

(12) Does the coating help against bird droppings ?

YES.

The coating helps to break down the bird droppings, so that when it rains, it is eaiser to wash them off.

(13) Does the coating boost the productivity of my panels ?

NO.

The coating does NOT boost the production but rather, it helps to “restore some of the efficiency that would normally be lost“, due to dirt accumulation. Clean panels are proven to produce more electricity than dirty panels. The coating helps them become less dirtier than they would normally have become without the coating, thus increasing the productivity.

(14) DO YOU COAT THE PANELS WITH CERAMIC COATING OR RAINX ETC

No.

(15) WHY SHOULD I APPLY PV COATING ON MY PANELS WHEN MY PANELS ARE ALREADY SELF-CLEANING ?

Our exclusive coating is not only self-cleaning but additionally, it uses a photo-catalytic mechanism to passively break down pollutants on the coated panel surface e.g.

(16) Why is hardly any other company doing this ?

It is not as easy as we make it look.

(17) HOW LONG DOES THE JOB TAKE ?

Up to 16 panels will usually take about 2 to 3 hours. It depends on how easy-to-reach, the panels are.

(18) HOW DO I MAINTAIN THE COATING ?

Under normal circumstances, the coating is maintenance-free, as the rain is usually enough to clean it for you. But, if you must clean the panels due to severe environmental conditions, then, please follow the rules below :

ONLY use limescale-free water e.g. purified water or de-ionised water, with a cleaning brush, to clean the panels.
No cleaning chemicals are necessary since dirt come off the surface of coated panels with little effort.
Never use any harsh industrial chemicals on the panels.

(20) DOES THE COATING VOID THE PANEL’S MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY ?

Below are 8 reasons why our coating can NEVER void your warranty :

(A) One of the reasons why a panel manufacturer could void a warranty is if something has been done to the panels, which ends up damaging them.

In view of this, our parent company requested a third party engineering firm called ATLANTIC DESIGN ENGINEERS, to conduct a thorough test, in order to evaluate if our cleaning and coating products could potentially damage the panels.

Their verdict is “NO”.

(B) A warranty can also be voided, if a panel has been re-modified. Our coating does not change or modify how the panel works. It simply protects it from environmental pollutants. Our coating is about 150 times thinner than a strand of hair. This is too thin for a manufacturer to classify this as a re-modification.

(C) In the 15 years since our parent company has been coating panels with our product, not once has a panel warranty been voided.

(D) The panel’s warranty can be voided if harsh industrial chemicals e.g. ammonia etc are used to clean the panels. We never clean your panels with any chemical that can void your warranty.

(E) Manufacturers advise that panels should be maintained regularly e.g. by cleaning. Many cleaning chemicals usually leave a faint coating behind. Since cleaning your panels does not void your warranty, then, coating them should not.

(F) We have had a customer contact his manufacturer, in order to confirm if his warranty would be voided by coating his panels and the answer from the manufacturer was “NO”.

(G) Manufacturer’s manual usually state that damages or faults on panels due to environmental pollutants e.g. sea salt, scratches, rust etc will not be accepted as reasons to make a claim. Therefore, since our coating helps to protect your panels from these environmental elements, coating your panel will be helping to ensure that your warranty is more secured.

(H) Since 2016, our UK partner has coated 1000’s of panels and not once has a panel warranty been voided.

Therefore, for these 8 reasons, we believe that our coating will not void your warranty.

(21) DO YOU NEED TO USE MY TAP WATER TO DO THE JOB ?

No.

However, we would need to plug into an electric socket in your property.

(22) WHAT DOES THE GUARANTEE COVER ?

The GUARANTEE states that, should the coating completely wear
out within the stated period, after coating your solar panels, you will be entitled to a free re-coat ( Labour + Materials ) , at zero cost to you. Re-coat will ONLY complete the remaining time left in the stated term or period. Coating has a shine to it, and a visual inspection is usually enough to detect its presence. Further tests may be required.
